Since its formation in 1994, Endemol has rocketed from a small production company in the Netherlands to become one of the largest TV, cross platform and digital production companies in the world.
Endemol now has 80 companies in 26 countries and produces more than 40,000 hours of television a year for over 400 networks.
We have recently acquired Southern Star, one of the largest distributors of English language television programming in the world. Together with the Southern Star library, we now distribute 20,000 hours of programmes, which is in addition to the 40,000 hours we will produce this year as a result of our local sales activities.
And we are either the largest or one of the top 3 independent production companies in nearly every major market.
Even in the US, where we started from scratch only 8 years ago, Endemol today is one of the most prolific independent producers in the country, having partnered with ALL the networks, cable channels and syndicated players.
While we do most of our business in the large European markets and the US, we continue to expand in growing markets such as Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
We employ almost 6,500 people, of whom nearly 80% are involved in content creation.
We have more than 15 teams around the world, which develop new concepts, new formats and original ideas for their local market.
In 2008 Big Brother was broadcast in over 30 countries including the US and the UK as well as France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and many other major markets. In fact over 320 million viewers worldwide watched the show last year.
The SECRET - put simply - is creativity. Creativity and ingenuity are the heart and soul of the company and are the DNA that makes the group so unique.
