Endemol, a world leader in entertainment programming, today announced its long running worldwide hit Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has been commissioned for a local version in Asia.

Associated Broadcasting Company in the Philippines has ordered a 12 episode first series of the format to run on leading local channel TV5.  The show will be produced in local language Tagalog and will go out as monthly specials.
This will be the first Asian version of the blockbuster format, which to date has been broadcast in 185 countries.  This includes the USA where the show is now in its 8th season on ABC having won 28 industry awards including two Emmys; and continues to be one of the most popular programmes on television.
Other locally produced versions have most recently included Extreme Makeover: Social Edition in Brazil, which was a hit for TV Record in September 2010 and came to the aid of not just single families but entire communities.
Endemol's CEO of Asian Operations Arjen van Mierlo comments: "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has for many years been one of Endemol's most successful and talked about shows and we're bringing it to Asia for the first time with great pride.  It is a feel good format on a huge scale and I've no doubt audiences here will become immersed in it, just as they have around the world."
TV5 President and CEO, Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, adds: "The launch of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on TV5 is set to be a great television event in the Philippines.  The Filipino viewers are bound to be hooked to the true-to-life human drama that will unfold in the much awaited local version of the worldwide hit series."
