ENDEMOL APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR IN PORTUGAL

MD of Endemol Portugal appointed

Lurdes has been with Endemol Portugal for over nine years, joining in 1999 as an Executive Producer and going on to become Creative Director in 2003.

Over the last year her responsibilities have included overall management of Endemol Portugal during which time the company has secured a number of large scale projects with leading broadcasters. These have included Strictly Dancing and Operacion Triunfo, both for RTP1 and Singing Bee for SIC, all of which were prime time hits.

It was also revealed today that Endemol Portugal has been commissioned by SIC to produce a local version of the latest global blockbuster Wipeout. The format has now been picked up by 18 countries having launched this June in the USA where it is ABC's number one summer show and has already been picked up for a second season.

Other productions coming up in Portugal include 80 episodes of Wheel of Fortune, which launches on 8th September on SIC and a big dance competition show for RTP, which is expected to be announced shortly.

Marco Bassetti, Chief Operating Officer of Endemol comments: "Lurdes has already proven that she is the right person for the job. Under her management Endemol Portugal has had an extremely successful year and I've every confidence that the company will continue to grow with her at the helm."

During her time at Endemol Portugal Lurdes has overseen successful local productions of formats such as Big Brother, Star Academy, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Circus of the Celebrities.
