The show, which airs on ABC this summer, has now been sold in Germany, Belgium, Greece, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Details of scheduling and who has commissioned the format in these latest countries are still being kept firmly under wraps pending announcements by the broadcasters themselves. Endemol is also close to a significant deal in the Middle East and further territories are expected to be revealed shortly.
Mike Morley, Senior Executive Director, Commercial and Creative Affairs at Endemol International comments: "Wipeout delivers prime-time family entertainment that's front-to-finish fun, laughter and drama. Broadcasters who've signed up to it know they're getting a true signature show, a powerful format that will make their channel stand out. And the real clincher is that we've managed to ensure production can be tailored to both major and minor budgets."
Endemol recently announced that the level of interest generated by Wipeout at Mip TV this April has prompted them to invest millions in building what is set to be the world's biggest TV obstacle course, located in Argentina. This will be used for back to back productions of Wipeout for broadcasters all over the world and is designed to deliver significant cost efficiency savings.
Wipeout is a truly action-packed competition game show that sees contestants from all walks of life compete for a grand cash prize in grueling and hilarious rounds across extreme obstacle courses. Packed with muscle, grit, entertainment, action, impact and spectacular wipeouts, this really is survival of the fittest.
