Endemol Germany has been commissioned to produce a 90 minute prime time special of 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow, which will broadcast on RTL this autumn whilst TV Globo in Brazil, and Fox in Turkey have both commissioned first series. Further deals are expected to be announced soon.
All productions will be recorded at the global hub for the show in Argentina where local versions for BBC One in the UK and ABC in the USA are also being filmed.
101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow debuted its 8 part run on major UK broadcaster BBC One on Saturday 10th July and beat all competitors in its prime time slot. The show achieved a peak audience of 5.3 million (30.3% share), with an average of 4 million (25.7%).
It was also recently announced that ABC in the US has commissioned a broadcast pilot of the show.
The format was developed by Endemol's creative teams in the UK and USA.
Paul Römer, Chief Creative Officer of Endemol Group comments; "101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow is another great example of Endemol delivering high octane entertainment on a massive scale and I'm extremely pleased to see it rolling out around the world so quickly. The ratings success in the UK is an extremely strong start for this format, which we believe has great global potential."
101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow sees losing contestants ejected from the show in the most crazy and outrageous ways possible. Think human cannons, helicopters, runaway cars, rockets, catapults and bungees... then add freezing water and terrifying heights. It's tense, it's surprising and it's very funny.
All the action takes place on the monolithic "tower", a purpose built venue rising 100 feet to the sky. The quiz part of the show happens in a high-tech studio, which can move up and down inside the tower. But with one side of studio constantly exposed to the elements, the contestants are only ever a few feet away from being flung from the tower by some devilish device. One moment they're in the relative calm of a sophisticated quiz show set; the next they're hanging upside down on a zipline in a high wind about to be fired off the tower and off the show for good.
