Created by Endemol UK and currently being piloted by Endemol USA is The Whole 19 Yards, a thrilling new game show with a hilarious twist. Players compete to win a big cash prize by answering general knowledge questions on the buzzer. But knowing the answer and getting to the buzzer are two different issues, because player and buzzer are separated by 19 yards of uniquely entertaining physical obstacles!
Also born out of a US/UK collaboration is Someone's Gotta Go, a compelling workplace challenge with a difference. Each episode follows a small business adopting a radical approach in these tough economic times. The boss gives the power to the employees to decide who deserves to be paid more, paid less and fired. In the end, someone's gotta go! The show has already been commissioned in the USA where an announcement is expected soon.
From Endemol France is Big Bang, a white knuckle game show that asks one pivotal question: do you dare to play? For six brave contestants in six knock out rounds it's all about pressing buttons and avoiding the one that's booby trapped. Press the wrong button and your money explodes... game over!
A new format from Endemol's creative team in Germany will also be among this year's market highlights. Have I Told You Lately is a feel good show that takes a group of romantically challenged males and trains them to perform a love song together.
Also joining this year's line up of new entertainment formats is The Candidate, a hilarious dating show with a twist created by Endemol Netherlands, which sees twelve hopeful's unwittingly lured into candid camera set ups that reveal their true character while a potential suitor looks on.
Tom Toumazis, Chief Commercial Officer of Endemol Group comments: "This year we are launching a new generation of shows under the banner ‘Spectacular Entertainment' and that's exactly what they are. This is an exceptionally strong line up of formats that promise to pack in drama, emotion and jeopardy and we are expecting them to be in big demand at Mip."
The new slate of shows will launch at Mip alongside Endemol's returning global formats including the latest breakout hit, Wipeout, now in over 20 countries and counting; terrifying reality challenge Estate of Panic; groundbreaking game show 20Q; dating show Conveyor Belt of Love and award winning variety show The Best Years of Our Lives, which has become a smash hit in Spain and Italy.
