Viewed through the eyes of their adoring fans, the players and the new owners, this is the inside story of Manchester City during the 2009/10 season – the first full year under Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi, who bought the club 18 months ago.
After 34 years without a trophy City are today one of the most talked about clubs in world football – they’ve signed star players and, finally have the means to compete with their Manchester rivals.
With unique access to the players and behind the scenes, the feature-length documentary shows the highs and lows of a historic year and will reflect some of the club’s previous achievements. Among the highlights:
Interviews and access to City’s ‘big’ names, including Tevez and Adebayor, who talk frankly about why they joined the club and what playing football means to them; Filming access to some of City’s celebrity fans, including Noel Gallagher, who reveals his passion for the Club he has supported since childhood; Unique behind the scenes access to the manager, Roberto Mancini, including his first attempts at learning English.
Meshed with access to City during the season are the personal stories of a group of dedicated City fans. We’ll see how their passion for City affects their everyday lives – their work, their leisure, even their relationships.
In a departure from previous football documentaries, the film was shot using ‘Red’ cameras, bringing a movie-style feel to the material.
Entertaining, intimate and variously funny and poignant, the film reveals a passion for football as that has rarely been shown on the big screen before.
Football can make you fall in love. But it can also break your heart.
